Good Numbers Or Size....Take Your Pick

Fishing Report 7/21/2008

Everyone take your pick on the trip you want. You can get good numbers of trout but they’re mainly males in the 15”-17” range or you can go for size and get a few males but mainly load the box with bigger Trout in the 21”-25” range it all depends on the area fished.

We started the week coming off a stout S/W wind which had the bay pretty tore up but it didn’t take it long to clean up for the most part by Tuesday afternoon. As the weekend approached it slicked out and Saturday morning was picture perfect, then Sunday hit with a West by Northwest wind and it dirtied it up a little but was still fishable and producing some nice Trout both size and number it depended on the area fished.

Ok like I said above we had some good trips this last week and I got some good reports from all over the bay but the ticket was hitting it early. As for locations it was all over, the Campell’s area produced numbers but a lot of little trout but you could put a nice box together over time. The Bolivar Wells hit it big this last week with some nice numbers but the ticket is a slow moving tide or almost none other wise it’s hard to fish do to the current. The channel area is still producing working hump and the rocks I also got a good report from around the April Fools area the Barge sunken out in front of it drifting with croaker good numbers of Trout being picked up around Mary’s reef . I got some reports from all over East Bay, most shell is holding some Trout from the reports I got. As for East Bay there’s some good numbers coming from the back of the bay from what I heard I would think the Islands behind Rollover and maybe some of the Reefs on the North Shoreline. I did get some reports from Deep Reef also over the weekend no big numbers but they had size. If the wind stay down so we can get out in the middle of the bay things should stay good. We don’t have the best tide this week so we’ll be working on an early bit or what I call the “SUNRIASE BITE”. IF we can keep Dolly away (The New Tropical Storm Down South) from the upper part of the coast we’ll be in good shape this week into next weekend although we could use a good rain to sweeten up the bay a little and revive the grass.

I want to let everyone know I’ve posted the picture of my new 2008 24 Haynie with the new wrap which was done by Radical Wraps in Conroe tx. They did a great job on the design and install. They can do it all from trucks and cars to bay boats and bass boats and even have done some enclosed trailers. The quality on the print is 720dpi which is photographic no pixels showing. You can see my wrap on my front page of my site or on their website at www.radicalwraps.com or you can give Scott a call at 936-525-9358. They are located on Hwy 105 right across from the Lake Conroe dam. If you need any advertising sign give them a call and let them know Capt. David sent you.

As for the classes I’ve been doing I’m still doing them mornings and afternoons, weekdays and weekends. The classes cover all of East Bay from the Point of Bolivar to Smith Point and back to Rollover Pass and everything in between and parts of Galveston Bay to the Causeway Bridge. This will cover a whole years fishing area. These are private classes done by appointment, one on one or with a fishing buddy. I will be covering it all from fishing locations with g.p.s. crod. to bait riggings. This is a no holds bar class all questions are answered. I won’t be mixing people unless you put a group together and then it needs to be only up to 3 persons. I’m doing this for a one-on-one so each person will get the most out of it. Give me a call to set up a date for your class or if you have any questions. With the price of gas this is a way to understand the bay better and run less looking or guessing where to fish.

I also want to let everyone know that Crystal Canal Bait Camp is open and holding bait. As of this writing they have Live and Fresh Dead shrimp and the live looks great they also now have croaker. They also have 25lbs of ice for $3.00 now that’s a deal. They open at 5:30am. Stingaree Bait Camp is holding Live Shrimp and bulk ice, they also have 2 boat ramps to launch from and are open daily.

I want to thank Chris’s Marine, Haynie Boats, Coastline Trailers in Seadrift Tx, and Mercury Motors for the nice 12’X12’ Billboard they have put up in both directions between the Light house and the Ferry Landing on Bolivar advertising their products and GalvestonBayFishing.Com. It looks great from the road in both directions.

Until Next Week
